"Building a New Life" Exhibit Opening

  • Glencoe Mansion, Museum & Gallery 600 Unruh Drive Radford, VA, 24141 United States (map)

Glencoe Mansion, Museum & Gallery will be opening of a new exhibit, “Building a New Life,” on February 5 from 4-5:45pm.

The new exhibit will explore the Reconstruction Era, the pivotal era after the American Civil War, both as a political movement and as a lived experience, with special emphasis on the African-American perspective, especially as it relates to Southwest Virginia. The new exhibit and discussion are made possible through a grant from The Commonwealth History Fund administered through the Virginia Museum of History & Culture and funded by Dominion Energy.

The evening will begin with an opening of the exhibit at the Glencoe Mansion, which will take place from 4 to 5:45 PM. The new exhibit will be on permanent display, but for Black History Month it will be on special display in the Gallery located on Level One.

The opening will be followed at 6 PM with the Panel Discussion at the Radford City Council Chambers. Check back later this week for more details.

The Opening and Panel Discussion are open to the public and free to attend.
